Ellen Degeneres on Netflix.

Ellen DeGeneres Preparing New Netflix Special

For 20 years, Ellen DeGeneres hosted her own syndicated talk show, The Ellen Show. During that time, she became known for a variety of things, including advocating for people to “be kind.” Behind the scenes, there was controversy brewing on mistreatment of both the crew and guests. This is something that DeGeneres has addressed in the past, but now it’s taking center stage once again.

Since earlier this year, DeGeneres has been returning to stand-up after having taken a few years off on her headlining Last Stand...Up tour. She’s been mainly performing at Largo in Los Angeles, headlining her own show there. Onstage, she talks about a variety of topics, but it all keeps coming back to the controversy.

What Ellen DeGeneres is saying about her new stand-up.

According to Rolling Stone, DeGeneres says, “I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me and I realized…I said that at the height of my popularity. It is such a waste of time to worry about what other people think…Right now I’m hoping you’re thinking, ‘This is marvelous, I’m so happy to be here.’ But you could be thinking, ‘Let’s see how this goes.’”

DeGeneres has reportedly been taking to the stage with a purpose. She announced onstage at a recent show that she is working on a new Netflix special, which she is slated to tape in the Fall. This is a follow-up to her 2018 Netflix special, Relatable, and it sounds like she’s ready to talk about her reputation that has since come to light!
